Outdoor Living

Many people nowadays want to dedicate an area of their garden to dining and entertaining. There is plenty of kit on the market for just that purpose, from weatherproof garden furniture, easy to erect wooden decking, to barbecues and fire pits and sophisticated lighting. Integrating all these elements into a harmonious  garden design can be challenging and needs careful planning.

The clients in this example wanted to update their outdoor living space and integrate it with their newly built kitchen extension. This meant re-orientating the garden to make use of previously dead space. To achieve a contemporary, Mediterranean, feel, an existing kitchen garden was screened with stylish slatted fencing – we used Jacksons Venetian panels - and a new outdoor room was created from a combination of decking and sawn sandstone paving.  This secluded and welcoming space for al fresco cooking and entertaining was then enhanced with a water feature and raised beds for ready to hand culinary herbs. Inbuilt seating matched the  new decking and lighting  and irrigation schemes were added. Four new pergolas clothed in roses give privacy along the boundary  and an existing summer house was repainted and moved to a new location at the further end of the garden.
